Seoul Railway System is a railway map of Seoul metropolitan area whose overall image is inspired by Tae-Geuk mark of the national flag of Korea. Seoul boasts 600 years of history as the capital of the nation. Han River, flowing across the city from east to west, has been the driving force for development of the capital city and is symbol of the long history of the Korean Peninsula. Representation of the Han River in this map mimics the curvature in the middle of the Tae-Geuk mark. This map also shows the territory of Han Yang, the old capital of the Jo-Seon Dynasty and Five Grand Palaces. This is the old Seoul marked by the Four Gates, and the growth of the city becomes clear when compared to the modern metropolitan area.
